Miss Magers served dainty refreshments later in the evening. ft Delightfully Merry Party Enjoyed at Ness fjome on Sunday Evening Mrs. T. H. Ness, Mrs. Will H. Gerretsen Jr., Mrs. H. C. Church and Mrs. H. O. Pargeter, represen ting the "lows" of the last bridge " club meeting, entertained the "highs" with n seven o'clock din ner at the Ness home in Laurel wood on Sunday evening. The affair was one of the most hilarious parties to be enjoyed by the club this year. Each mem ber and her husband, arrived at the parly In the most ridiculous costume they could find. Mrs. Ger retsen and H. O. Pargeter won the first prizes for the best costumes and Mr. Ness and Mrs. Church won second prizes. The dinner was also amusing, as no silver was used and each guest was presented with a bib. Immediately following the dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wharton arriv ed and took flashlight pictures of the guests. Those enjoying the affair were Mr. and Mrs. U. R. Smith, Dr. and Mrs. II. C. Church, Mr. and Mrs Willard Johnson, Mr. and Mrs. Will I fessor Horner would arrive Christmas Club Members Entertained at Dinner at Church Home Monday Mrs. H. C. Church was a charm ing hostess to the members of the Christinas club on Monday evening when she entertained with a seven o'clock dinuer at her home in North Uoseburg. The entire color scheme was carried out in yellow and green. Yellow daffodils., ar ranged with greenery in a green bowl, graced the center of the table. U'ull green tapers, favors and placecards matched the cen v.pteee. Yellow and preen was also carried out in each course served. Covers were placed for Mrs. Keith White, of Scio, Oregon, Mrs. Guy Cordon, Mrs. L. E. (McClin tock, Mrs. Ivan Pickens, Mrs. O. M, Berrie, Mrs. C. B. Wade, Mrs. D. B. Bubar, Mrs. Clair K. Allen, Mrs. Kenneth Quine, Mrs. Jack Wharton, Mrs. Ralston Bridges, of Oakland, and the hostess, Mrs. H. C. Church. Sewing and visiting were en joyed following the dinner hour. ft One o'Clock Luncheon Served to Roseburg Woman's Club Members The Roseburg Woman's club en joyed a delightful one o'clock luncheon at the club house on Tuesday of this week. Mrs. A. C. Marsters was general chairman of the affair. Jonquils and greenery were used as' a decorative note. Following the luncheon, Mrs. Ada Jolley, state W. C. T. U. presi dent, gave an interesting talk, fol lowed by a talk on the "New Edu cational Plan," by P. Jensen, prin cipal of the Senior high school of Roseburg. The regular business meeting, In charge of Mrs. W. E. Ott, president, followed the program. Book Club Members , Entertained at Bell Home on Thursday Mrs. William Bell was a most gracious hostess to the members of the Book club at her home In the Bell apartments on Thursday of tills week. A lovely one o'cjqck luncheon was served at a table .att. tractlvely arranged with a largo jonquil and fern centerpiece. The George Wshington patriotic motif was carried out in the favors and placecards. Covers were placed for gliosis, Mrs. I. II. .Riddle, Mrs. A. Austin. Games and visiting were enjoved for a few hours, aft er which Mrs. Bruton, assisted by 'Miss Elsie Hudson, served a chili supper at tables made attractive with the Valentine motif. Hard-Time Party Enjoyed by Roseburg Art and Embroidery Club Members Members of the Roseburg Art nnd Embroidery club enjoyed a hard-time party at the home of Mrs. H. N. Mrs. H. C. Church, president, was in charge of the business session, at which time plans were made for the mer chants' lunchf Friday, March 13. Mrs. Will H. Gerretsen Jr. and Miss Mona Porter are joint chair men for the merchants' lunch. During Lent, the guild will meet at the parish hall Immediately following the Wednesday evening service. During the parish hall meeting, Rev. Perry Smith will conduct study classes. Presbyterian Ladies Aid Planning Food Sale for April 4th The Presbyterian Ladles Aid met on Thursday afternoon in the church parlors at which time a large attendance of members and visitors were present. Mrs. Ralph Russell, president, was In charge of the business session. Plans were made for the pre-Easter food Bale, which will be held April 4. The annual spring style show will be one of the largest aftairs of Fehrnarv and will be presented next Wednesday evening by the American Legion Auxiliary anu the Roseburg merchants in the Junior high school. A "delightful program, special features and many Interesting musical numbers have been ar ranged for the., entertainment of the audience. Mrs. J. M. Judd Is general chairman of the style show and Mrs. George Wharton has charge of the stage settings. John McCllntock will be master; of ceremonies. Music will be furnished by the Roseburg conservatories and Ott's Music store. Fifteen stores of the city will display their finest spring merchandise and the Umpqua Flower shop will be represented with their many bouquets of love ly flowers. The prettiest girls of Roseburg will act as models for the merchants. The Roseburg Municipal band has been asked to take part In the program and one of the citv'B most popular ballet dancers will have a prominent part in the program Although this is the first time the Auxiliary has ever presented the style show in the Junior high school It Is believed that the largest crowd to attend the shows will be present for this annual nffnlr Wednesday evening. Presbyterian Choir Entertained at Fisher Home Thursday Evening Mr. and Mrs. Fred Fisher, of Edenbower, entertained the mem bers of the First Presbyterian church choir at their lovely homo on Thursday evening of this week. The choir practice was held early in the evening, after which several hours of games, stunts and con tests were enoyed.
