Delightfully Merry
Party Enjoyed at Ness
fjome on Sunday Evening
Mrs. T. H. Ness, Mrs. Will H.
Gerretsen Jr., Mrs. H. C. Church
and Mrs. H. O. Pargeter, represen
ting the "lows" of the last bridge
" club meeting, entertained the
"highs" with n seven o'clock din
ner at the Ness home in Laurel
wood on Sunday evening.
The affair was one of the most
hilarious parties to be enjoyed
by the club this year. Each mem
ber and her husband, arrived at
the parly In the most ridiculous
costume they could find. Mrs. Ger
retsen and H. O. Pargeter won the
first prizes for the best costumes
and Mr. Ness and Mrs. Church won
second prizes.
The dinner was also amusing, as
no silver was used and each
guest was presented with a bib.
Immediately following the dinner,
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Wharton arriv
ed and took flashlight pictures of
the guests.
Those enjoying the affair were

Christmas Club Members
Entertained at Dinner
at Church Home Monday
Mrs. H. C. Church was a charm
ing hostess to the members of the
Christinas club on Monday evening
when she entertained with a seven
o'clock dinuer at her home in
North Uoseburg. The entire color
scheme was carried out in yellow
and green. Yellow daffodils., ar
ranged with greenery in a green
bowl, graced the center of the
table. U'ull green tapers, favors
and placecards matched the cen
v.pteee. Yellow and preen was
also carried out in each course
served.

Woman's Club Members
The Roseburg Woman's club en
joyed a delightful one o'clock
luncheon at the club house on
Tuesday of this week. Mrs. A. C.
Marsters was general chairman of
the affair. Jonquils and greenery
were used as' a decorative note.
Following the luncheon, Mrs.
Ada Jolley, state W. C. T. U. presi
dent, gave an interesting talk, fol
lowed by a talk on the "New Edu
cational Plan," by P. Jensen, prin
cipal of the Senior high school of
Roseburg.
The regular business meeting, In
charge of Mrs. W. E. Ott, president,
followed the program. A letter
was read from the Oregon State
college extension department at

During Lent, the guild will meet

Aid Planning Food
Sale for April 4th
The Presbyterian Ladles Aid
met on Thursday afternoon in the
church parlors at which time a
large attendance of members and
visitors were present. Mrs. Ralph
Russell, president, was In charge
of the business session. Plans
were made for the pre-Easter food
Bale, which will be held April 4.
Considerable other business was
discussed for coming events.

city will display their finest spring
merchandise and the Umpqua
Flower shop will be represented

the merchants.
The Roseburg Municipal band
has been asked to take part In the
program and one of the citv'B most
popular ballet dancers will have
a prominent part in the program
Although this is the first time the
Auxiliary has ever presented the
style show in the Junior high school
It Is believed that the largest
crowd to attend the shows will
be present for this annual nffnlr
Wednesday evening. The auditor

efforts are being made by the com
