More than forty American girls who participated in the recent Miami beauty pageant were on their way home today thanks to a special meeting of the city cominioHioner.s which produced their railroad fares. The commissioners, told thatj tne pageant association had an In debtedness of $24,734, appropriat ed $4,660 from t he city's publicity fund to help the girls get out of the city. Some of the forty or more girls had prize money due them and others had been unable to collect traveling expenses from the pa geant association. Among bills unpaid, the council was told, was one for ....6,910.88 for railroad transportation. TIDE TRAPS FOUR YOUTHS ON ROCK SAN FRANCISCO, March 21 Trapped on Mussel Hock, a crag ity "island" just off the ocean shore south of San Francisco, four youths today awaited the coming of low tide lo return to tne main land. Charles Maloney and George Crukolph, all of Daly City, VitkI two other youths whose nnmes were not obtained, waded out to the rock nt low tide yesterday, in tending to remain until tho next low tide. The evening lido did not run low enough to suit the quartet, al though the other two boys waded ashore. When the four finally called for help, Jan Jalluk, a coast guardsman, swam out to them with a line and offered to help them ashore hut they refused and elected to remain throughout the night. BURT KLAMATH FAU.S, Ore., March 21 The body of Samuel E. Hurt. 61, drowned in Klamath Lake while hunting November 24. was found late yesterday by Charles Klesllng, who was fishing In the lake. The body of Edward Syfert, who was drowned Willi Burt was found February 22. Both bodies were found r.everal miles from where the boat in which they were rid ing was found rammed by ice.
