A number of Important matters were discussed and work was planned w ith the chairmen of the various j committees. Sewing Day to Be Held Mrs. W. A. Stephenson, chair man of the hospital coininiuec, and Mrs. Phil Harth, chairman of the child weirnre committee, have planned an afternoon of sewing. Mrs. Stephenson has invlieil an members and friends of the unit who can do so to come to her home on llie afternoon of Febru ary 12 to sew for needy children and make supplies which are need ed for the veterans hospital Portland. Any member or friend who wishes to help in this work should call Mrs. Stephenson In ol der that she might plan llie work to the best advantage. At this time there is a special need for till! dren's clothing. Picture Books made for Children's Hospital Mrs. Roy Young, chairman of the work for the Doernbecher children's hospital, reported splen did progress ".vitn her work. The unit planned to make a number ot picture books for the hospital and a friend of the unit in Portland donated a quantity of bright col ored paper for the foundations. Mrs. Roy Young and Mrs. George Ware sewed and bound thirty-five books and following Tuesday night's meeting the members past ed pictures In ihem. The girls plan to make at least thirty-five more books In the near future, ror sani tary reasons these books cannot be nassed from one child to all- other, therefore a great number of books are needed. The country districts and schools are cooperaling wonderfully. The school children especially are en thusiastic about this work.
