burg yesterday leading the South
western Oregon basketball league
by a two-game margin, as a result
of victories over North Rend and
Marshfield Friday and' Saturday,
The Roseburg team defeated
North Bend Friday night. 28 to
27. and on Saturday night won
from Marshfield 24 to 15. Both
games were the fastest ever seen
In Coos Bay and were played be
fore large crowds of enthusiastic
fans.
Better Stamina Wins
The North Bend game was
exceedingly exciting contest.
North Bend took the lead In the
first Quarter by a score of 8 to 6
The first period was a whirlwind
affair with both teams playing at
high speed. In the second quarter
conditioning began to show and
North Bend was unable to stand
the fast pace, while the Rose
burg team with its players better
conditioned forged Into the lead
and was ahead 19 to 12 at the end
of the period.
After the rest period 'North
Bend came back to resume the
fast nlaying of the first quarter,
but Roseburg began playing per
centage hall, and kent possession

end of the third period was 25. to

second with 6, while Koenfg and
Entler each annexed 4 and Rayles
made 2. Coach Turner made no

Victors Win Hraise
The Roseburg team was highly
praised by Coos Bay players and
fans for its clean plaving. In the
two games, despite the fact that
both were fast and hard-fought.
Roseburg players were given only
five personaly fouls, which is con
sidered a mighty fine showing.
As a result of Its three victories
over the strong teams of the
lengue, Roseburg now stands in a
fine position to hold the lead
through the rest of the senBon.
The game with Marshfield in
this city Friday will be an Imi
portant factor In this connection.
Marshfield has a dangerous team, I
