HILL BE TESTED Through the efforts of the Doug las County Dairymen s association arrangements have been made to test the dairy herds of the county lor contagious abortion. 1 ilia dread disease iiaa tiuaucially ruined many dairymen, and its existence in any herd means not only a very heavy losi; in offspring, bat also in milk production. Douglas county Is one or the lew counties of the state that is prac tically free from this disease. It is believed bv ihe dairymen that by liequebt and careful testing it will be possible to keep the disease iron i gaining any spread lu this county through outside eources. Herds belonging to Conn Broth ers, Fred Coti. Vincent rrescnerii and J. F. lionebrake have been re cently tested and have been pass ed as being entirely tree from the disease. Dr. George Nicholas, county vet erinarian, is continuing the teats and the association hopes that not only all of its own members but other dairymen as well will taite advantage of the opportunity to have their cows tested. As a special rate of 33 cents per head is made to members or the as sociation, the officers are urging additional memberships for the or ganization, the membership fee be ing only 50 cents.
