Mr. and Mrs. S. B. Dunn were
pleasantly surprised on "Sunday on
the occasion of their 4th wedding
anniversary. The surprise guests
arrived with well filled baskets
and a picnic dinner was enjoyed.
The Elgarose Young People's
club will entertain with a straw
berry social on Saturday evening
at the picnic grounds across from
the Eleprose chur ch. Outdoor
games' will be a feature of the
evening.

Teachers Take Exams
Thirty six teachers have finished
taking examinations under the su
pervision of Mrs. Edith Ackert,
county school superintendent.
Twelve took all of the subjects and
the remainder for exemptions, five
year certificates or life cei tificates.
Mrs. Ackert reports that 22(5 manu
scripts were turned in., .
Brings In Corsages
John Farrington of this city
presented the Chamber of Com
merce with a beautiful boquet of
fine roses yesterday for the office
rooms. He also brought in Cecil
Urunner eorsnges to be given to
tourists and visitors at the office,
as proof ,of the beauty of Rose
burg's roses.
Well Worth It
Paul H. Campbell, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Campbell, of Days Creek,
just returned home a few days ago
from his first year at the University
of Oregon at Eugene. The young
man is a gratuate of Days Creek
High school, and is taking the pre
medic course nt the university.
Each week end he drove from
Eugene to his Days Creek home,
nnd during the year at school made
the drive regularly with the
exception of one week when the
bad weather prevented. The speed
ometer of his car for these week
end t rips home registered 10,500
m'les, and he expects to carry out
this same program w hile continuing
his work at the University the
coming year.
