TODAY 42 CENTS; The turkey day of the pros- ent time la far from com pari. son with similar days of a few years ago when long lines of wagons and trucks waited at the various buying; stations for the unloading of their great pile of birds. Today 'the re- celpta have been so light that buyers are preparing in some Instances to truck their fowla to Oakland to load them for shipment to market. 4 Reports from Oakland 'and 4 other buying points also Indl- cate little activity so that there probably will not be more than two carloads out of the , county. The market opened at 41 ; cents and quickly went to 42 1 4 cents, where It remained 4 throughout the day. One pool of 600 birds at Oakland I brought 46 cents, while about ! 300 birds In Roseburg were 4 i 4 sold for 43 cents. These were ; the only departures, so far as 4 knownhowever, from the 42- cent price. These prices pre- I vailed only while buyers se- s ' cured enough turkeys to sup- ply orders already contracted and the original price was j 4 then restored. ' ! Re ceipts of turkeys In the local mar ket were very light today and I prices were firm to a shade high- Dealers and commission men expect a heavy run tomorrow and I Sunday. Houses will remain open 1 Sunday to tike care of shipments coming in. Heavy buying of retail dealers la expected to reach the peak Sunday or Monday. So far it haa been limited. Quality of birds coming In so far has been exceptionally high. Dressed turkeys are quoted today' at 41 and 42 centa-for first grade; live birda at 32 and S3 cents. SAN FRANCISCO, Nor. 20. H. S. Bureau Agricultural Economies) The turkey market waa slightly stronger today with only moderate receipts.
