If ' there is a general disposition to reduce war preparation, the United Stales ought to take advantage df it and reduce its own heavy burden. Our people have always been believers in peace, and have been foremost in advocating peace mea sures. We shall of course want to join in with any move for " disarmament which may be initiated by the rest of the world. The feeling will be expressed by some that treaties have been made before and broken. Yet it does seem true that 'thfe people of those countries are thoroughly sick and dis- gusted with war. Ac cording to the estimates of Canadian officials, more than two million American-automobiles, carrying nine million pso bIo a number nearly euual to the tntnl nnniilntinn nf fin ii a- da crossed into thnt country this year.
