In-issuing the call for the league eouncll meeting, M. Briand also communicated with Athens and So fia, asking both governments to be represented at the meeting and re questing them to abstain from fur ther hostilities meanwhile. A semi-official communique from Sofia declared the Bulgarian gov ernment was resting upon Its ap peal to the league would not re ply to the Greek demands, and would "await with confidence the decision of the eouncll." The Bulgarian legation In Paris also issued a statement denying that Sofia government Intended to declare war - should Greek troops remain on Bulgarian soli. The statement said It was Impossible for Bulgaria to take such action in view of her disarmed state under the peace treaty. An Athens dispatch this morn ling said the Greek government ; had ordered Its forces to halt their advance and to make no further move against the Bulgarians un less there was a. fresh attempt to attack them.
