Trav el to Crater Lake for the first half of July was eight per cent heavier than last year, when a new record was established, and the Medford entrance Is leading the Klamath entrance by a large majority, ac cording to a report Issued today by Superintendent C. O. Thomson. Mr. Thomson also states that 20 per cent of the women going to the lake this year are unescorted, which he considers an unusual fea ture. To July 17, 6.3S5 cars had entered the park containing 18,391 people. This total is less than the Presbyterian synod of Oregon will t total last year on the same date. AUDITING OF SCHOOL DISTRICT BOOKS TO TAKE UNTIL AUG. 15 Nearly nil of the district school .clerk books have been sent In to the county auditor and the work of auditing is proceeding rapidly, ac cording to Mrs. Edith Ackert, county school superintendent. Mrs. Lillian Davis has been appointed by tli- county court to expert the books, a. required by law, and has been giving a great deal of time to the task.
