Leach, pastor of the First Haptist church of Med ford, who recently accepted a call to the First baptist church of Bremer ton, Wash., will be succeeded here by Rev. Dr. V. H. Katon, for the last aeven years pastor of the Bremerton church, and who for a longer period prior to that was pastor of the first Baptist church of RoseburR, Oregon. The government struck a snag today in the trial of Oscar Lund and others charged with rum running, when Mrs. Kdna M. McDublin, former special federal prohibition agent, found difficulty In answering questions of assistant United States District Attorney Stearn.3. She told of meeting Dean Thomas, one of the defendants. After she met Thomas, she saw him nearly every day. But as to his telling her about bringing In liquor" and of his statements on July 1!)4, the night of his arrest In Warren ton, Ore, she could not recall. After looking at tho notes i she had kept she said: j "Mr. Thomas was sllvhtly drunk lone niclit and ho madn a state ment that he had several hundred cases of liquor coming in Inside of ten days. He said he would smile to see the government get him and they got him " Asked regarding her friendship for Thomas, she replied: "I cannot see that it is neces sary to dlaruss things that hap pened since I quit the employment !of the government.'' I Stearns asked the direct ques tion whether she and Thomas are I engaged, but Mrs. McDulin promptly answered: "No we aro not.
