Spring days, spring nights, i spicing the air with a tingling tscn-1 Nation that waits for the ippenr iance of every lover of the out doors, is here in an abuudcce i.t glory with countless more niil s i of ribbon-like highway sketching out far in front of the motor car I owner and bis friends. j The countryside Is emerald gretn, the trees blossoming out un til they resemble colored hulls of white and pink and red cotton, and myriads ot beautiful flowering plants are advanced by Mother Nature that speaks the doom of winter and its spell of silence. This, then, heralds again the motorists' paradise, and through out the rest of the year they may rcel in its beauties, filling the cup of enjoyment to the brim. But wait. "There are some things to do first," says Leo Kapp, one of the local Star Car dealers, "before these things are yours. Of course all of you could go riht out, prob ably, but there are a number of things that have to be atten ded to first. And they center chiefly about the care of your car, putting it in shape for another year of travel, unless you intend buying a new automobile to better enjoy the year's touring bem tits. "Experienced mechanics should always have care of the car, but many motorists like to do the work themselves, and it Is neces sarv th.-it thev fjilrp vt-rv nrp Mil lion to see that the work is done j thoroughly and well. "It is always, better to make a complete job of the inspection, greasing, etc., than to mak.j it a makeshift job, and the satisfaction is returned a thousand fold. For an experienced man, of course, the task takes much less time, and any motor car deak-r will always give your car over to the care of a mechanic, liut if ou must do it yourself, get Into the overal.s, and start in on the motor, first. 'Inspect and clen all the wir ing, generator, starter, see that Ihe working parts are well lubricated, clean off the motor, test your valves, test the motor for comprt'S sion, drain and re-fill the crank case with clean oil. Th'.n Inspect the universal joints, see that they are greased, as well as clutch bear ings. Clean out all around don t , forget that cleanliness hlps a mo- j tor car, too. t "Tighten up body bolts, wheel bearines, ami other bear inns and j bushings. See that springs are ; well lubricated, as W eil as ' the j shackles. "Test your brakes, have them ad- ' justed, or re-lin d, if necessary. Concoct a m'xlure of kerosene and cylinder oil, and force it betw.en spots where parts, such as body ; nnd fender, join, and which may be productive of squeaks. This should always be done, anyway, before or after washing a car. "Then, of course, inspect and ; clean the inside ot the car, make any minor repairs necessary, or , have them ntadf. You'll h sur prised indeed at the difference la your car. And you need this re minded not only for spring, or for any particular time, because at any time, your motor car will stand some Inspection. Frequent inspection and a halt for littla things will stop bigger ones later on for, despite the care that Is ex ercised in all car manufacture to day, the perfect automobile hag not yet been built nor wilt it be for k lone time to come." 1 " 1 " ' 1 When Better Automobile, Are Built, Buick Will Build Them MSW-A 5 you hear Buick men tioned favorably in every motor-car conversation?
