DECISION HANDED DOWN IN BANK CASE Judge Hamilton this morning overruled the answer in the case of the Douglas National Bank against W. P. Reed, a suit to col lect motley. The court went Into the technical status of the case at length, explaining his decision, which was based upon the terms of a written agreement between the parlies. The contention of Douglaa county, named as a de fendant in the action, was upheld, the county claiming a leln against the property owing to delinquent personal taxes. The faearinK in the juvenile court of the rase of Mrs. Mary Palmer, whOHe children are ' wards of the Juvenile court, and whom the court desires to lut out for adoption, has been delayed until April 27, which will Kive Mrs. l'almer time to make a personal appearance. J. Teucher, Jr., of the Boys and Girls Aid so ciety, who is to be a wltneas in the hearing came today, the case orig inally having been set for -today, word of the postponement having reached him too late. Mrs. Palmer's husband was re cently sentenced to the peniten tiary for a crime against bis own 'daughter. There are ten children in the family, Mrs. Palmer having given birth to a child only a few weeks ago at the Albertina Kerr nursery in Portland. The Ju venile court proposes to put the children out for adoption, claiming that .the mother is unable to pro vide for them properly and a hear ing is to be held to determine what should be done. Mrs. Palmer was not able to attend the hearing scheduled for today, and so a delay was provided which will give her time to present her side of the case, and if possible -make some arrangements for the care of the children. This city Is celebrating to day the one hundreth anniversary of the founding of Fort Vancou ver, which in the early part of the last century was the head quarters of the Hudson Bay com pany Jn the "Oregon country" all that vast territory between the Rocky mountains on the east and the Pacific ocean on the west and between California on tile south and the Russian colony in Alaska on rhe north. Ground will be broken this af ternoon for the construction of a stockade to reproduce tho old fort, which was tho headquarters of civilization in the Pacific Northwest in the days before the immigration of the 40's. Tae. old fort will form the cen ter of the 1,925 centennial cele bration, which is planned to be held here. Charles If. French, manager of the fur trade district pf nritish Columbia for the Hud son Hay company, is to take part in the ground breaking ceremo nies this afternoon. A parade will, be part of the ceremonies, and tonight there will he a banquet, at which Governor Roland II. Hartley, of Washing ton. Governor Walter M.
