Taaffe, of the Kohl lingen Apartments, received the sad news Wednesday of the death of her father, William H. James, at Vancouver, B. C. Arrived From North Dakota Mr. and Mrs. K. Chapman left this morning for Portland, where she will visit with her mother, who has been ill for some time, but la Im proving nicely now. Mrs. Chup maa expects to be gone for two weeks or more. Fire Department Called The fire department was called out last night for a flue fire at the Hash rooming house on East Douglas street. No damage wns done by the fire. Divorce Granted A decree of divorce was grant ed today to Cordelia V. Neas from J. H. Neas by Judge Hamilton, on the grounds of cruel and Inhuman treatment. Mra. Neas was repre sented by Attorney J. O. Wntsou. Mrs, Dolun Improving Mrs. James Dolan, who has been confined to her bed for the past two weeks, and who has been severely ill for the paHt severnl days, is reported as much better today.
