Mr. Flanders is from Portland. Mrs. T. J. Epplng died this after noon at Mercy hospital after an Ill ness of several weeks duration. Mrs. Epplng was taken to the hos pital the first of the month, but re covered sufficiently to he remov ed to her home. She suffered a relapse, however, and her death oc curred this afternoon. She came to this city early last year, and b,er husband was employed as a substitute clerk at the post office. Resides her husband she leaves two small children. At the meeting of the board of directors of the Roseburg Chamber of Commerce this afternoon, reso lutions were passed approving the bill before the legislature provid ing for the appropriation of $5i.nu0 for advertising the state of Ore gon, the money to be spent under the supervision of the State Cham ber of Commerce, and also the bill which would provide an Increase in salaries for the district attorneys of the stute. Lane was on his way home late one evening, he was stopped on South Jackson street by two young men, who held him up at the point of a gun, and took a postoffice money order for $2.75 from his pockets, this being I the only money which Mr. Lane had uiHin him at that time. After the hold-up he trailed Hie two men to the Imiclea south of town, and lice at Centralis, stating that the men had been arrested there for robbery, convicted and sentenced. SALVATION ARMY IN NEED OF SHOES AND CLOTHES The Salvation Army relief de partment Is in need of shoes, trou sers and other clothing for men. Ad jutant Fred Anderson staled this morning.
