Mrs. T. J. Epplng died this after
noon at Mercy hospital after an Ill
ness of several weeks duration.
Mrs. Epplng was taken to the hos
pital the first of the month, but re
covered sufficiently to he remov
ed to her home. She suffered a
relapse, however, and her death oc
curred this afternoon. She came
to this city early last year, and
b,er husband was employed as a
substitute clerk at the post office.
Resides her husband she leaves
two small children. Her parents
and other relatives live In the Can-
yonvhle vicinity. Funeral
rangements will not be made until
the arrival of relatives tonight.

Senator Magladry will Introduce
three hills todav. One would cen-
trallze control of all state traffic
offices under one chief In the sec
rotary of state's office, remove the
limitation of officers to be employ
ed In that division and leave the
secretary of state free to fix the
salaries of the men.
Another will provide for compul
sory sanitary dnspectlon of public
camp grounds, placing them under
the supervision of the state board
of health and designating county
heslth offcers to make regular In
spection of the grounds. The ser
vice would be supported by fees
with an additional compensation
allowed to health officers for the
inspection work.
The third Magladry measure will
ask an appropriate not X3li,00n for
an armory at Cottage Grove. This
has been approved by Governor
Pierce and Adjutant General
White.
PASS RESOLUTIONS.
At the meeting of the board of
directors of the Roseburg Chamber
of Commerce this afternoon, reso
lutions were passed approving the
bill before the legislature provid
ing for the appropriation of $5i.nu0
for advertising the state of Ore
gon, the money to be spent under
the supervision of the State Cham
ber of Commerce, and also the bill
which would provide an Increase
in salaries for the district attorneys
of the stute.

WALTER ADAIR DEAD.
Walter Adair, for many years a
resident of this county making his
home at Brockway, passed away
yesterday morning at Eho, Ore.,
where he was visiting wun rela
tives, according to Information re
ceived here today. Mr. Adair was

here. Owing to falling health he

OF SHOES AND CLOTHES
The Salvation Army relief de
partment Is in need of shoes, trou
sers and other clothing for men. Ad
jutant Fred Anderson staled this
morning. A great ileal of relief work
has been done during the winter,
and many cases of actual need giv
en attention. Clothing Is necessary
to continue this work, and persons
having shoes or garment which
they are willing lo have used by
the Salvation Army In giving relief
