And charged that the railroad in terests are engaged actively "in a desperate effort" to defeat him and elect either Cooltdgu or Ia vis, utnl Insisted that he did not propose, If elected, to undertake "any ill considered experiments in public ownership of railroads or along any other line." I'eclaring that counties laws ha-ve been passed to deal with the proven and admitted evils of transportation system but even the best of them have not gone to the root of the trouble, Mr. La Foliette contended that the on ly way to take the railroad ques tion out of politics is to settle it right.
