It Is estimated that between 1,500 and 2,000 automobiles were parked along the highway and at least 6.000 people were there. Van E. Kemery of Eugene, secretary of the Eugene Motorcycle association superintend ed the event. Following were those who entered the contest: Cody Ev ans from Salem, Harley Davidson; Cliff Hill from Portland, a Hender son, the first trial and an Excelsior the second; Langdon Howard of Portland, an Excelsior; Paul Wll bourne, Eugene, a Harley Davidson; Dill Davis, Eugene, Harley David son; Levi De Buy, Eugene, Harley Davidson; George Kaster, Salem, Harley Davidson, George Beechtold, Portland, Indian; Cecil Brown, Port land, Indian; George Frost, Rose burg, Harley Davidson; Roy Mont gomery, Portland, Excelsior. George Beechtold won the ama teur contest, making 232 feet of the 350 feet the height of the hill, on an Indlf.n. Cody Evans from Salem won both the 61 experts, and the big motor of 80 open by going over the top In 13 3-5 seconds, on the Harley Davidson. There were four who went over the tops this year, Harry Lewis from Roseburg in 13 seconds, all on Harley Davidsons, and two others in longer time. The climb this year was much more interest ing than ever before. There were better machines In the race, and al so better riders.
