ACTION ON BONUS BILL IS DELAYED WASHINGTON. March 21 Repuo- j lican members of the senate finance j committee decided today to seek the I advice of President Cooiidge before putting the bonus bill ahead of lax legislation, a step apparently favor ed vy me column ire im-u. It is the opinion of tho mnjorlty members. Chairman Smoot said, that the committee should know what expenditures would have to be met through pnssage of tho bonus bill be fore determining the revenue, which must be raised, under the next tax rates. He and Senator Curtis of Kansas will confer with tho president. Senator Smoot again threatened night sessions of the committee if greater speed in considering the bill Is not made. If decision is reached to put the bonus ahead It probably will be taken up next week. Mr. Smoot said. Mrs. E. A. Mrs. Plumb la from Chicago. Arthur W. Lawrence and son of Corvallls spent a short time In Rose burg today visiting with friends. They are on their way to Marshfleld where they will spend several days with friends. Mr. Lawrence has a Job printing plant Ins Corvallls. Mrs. I. E. Farrls of Portland, who has been spending the past week in this city visiting at the home of Mrs. M. Crawford, left this after noon for Eugene where she will spend some time visiting with her sister. Mrs. R. E. Morris, before re turning to her home In Portland. J. B. Crary, local Fuller Brush dealer, will leave Monday for Eu gene where he will enter the Uni versity of Oregon. This work Is being done following the pro posal Bubmlted by the City Beautiful Commission, and the members of the lodge are quite enthusiastic over the plan.
