Who do you Mipnso rnadu the above remark the of or day V Was it some highbrow theorist who fcloomily watches tie changes ol these times without ! iii,r anything liimself tu make the world better'.' No, tliis .somewhat severe statement was made by no pretentious personage, but by a plain and ordinary woman who t;oe out doinx washn.jr, who has no time lor fine .spun theo ries. I'.y her i.iithful work she has earned a rijjht to comment on life as .she s"es it, and the conclusions of such practical folks are i:ot to be lijfhtiy considered. I'erhaps such a person's hard exper iice tends to make one rather pessimistic. Still it can't be denied at many .vouiik women do live the pleasure loving lives that was :;;geted aboe, though not so much in a community like ours a.-; in larger cities. The first interest of such wives is not in their homes, husband.; and children, but in gaiety. They spend loo much on dress, tin y meet men that interest them more than their hu.' hands. Such a course leads many to the divorce court. The way to avoid :a;rli evil:; is to make domestic life interest ing. Domestic science courses in the school, that lead girls to take piide in good cookery, dressmaking, keeping up a home, etc., turn their thoughts ill these directions and away from fake ideals. o Looks like the Oregon-California Tower Company hius an eye on Uoseburg for a future business investment. And judging this company's activities in other wide awake communities much is to be gained by their advent into this community, from a public service standpoint. o Wonder what those foolish girls e::pect to gain from estab lishing dancing record.). Yesterday's dispatches told of a girl of twc.ity-one years dancing continuously for over fifty-two hours. We would say she is some dancing fool nothing more, nothing less. o Two hundred cars of broccoli shipped to foreign markets during i'ne brief season of this particular variety of vegetable is the record of this county. We have the Muscovites with us today and they are some bunch of real, good fellows rarin' to go for a good time. Ami here's hoping they git it. o (Ireal. things are in store for the future welfare of Uoseburg 'ill it's hard to make li e pessimist see anything but the hole in iao doughnut. o It' local olficials w i: h to get results in the way of disturbing "pelting parties" they will probably have to put on a night shilt.
