Is the statement made by men engaged In hauling and particularly those Interested in the lumber industry. The limit (he court has placed will result in more damage to the roads than would be done by the heavy trucks, they allege. The average ton and a half truck will weight around 4,000 pounds, It Is claimed and conse quently can carry only about 1,000 pound load. This will mean that all hauling must be done hv Ford trucks, which are much llahter. or bv wag ons. These Ford trucks end wag-1 ons have a very narrow tire width ' and will cut deeply Into the road and will destroy the surface within a very short time. On the other! hand the big trucks with their wide tires. If not overloaded, serve to pack down the surface and do much less damage than the vehicles with the narrow tires. The Ford Trucks have a total tiro width of about B Inches as com pared with 16 Inches of tire sur face, carried by the average ton and a half truck. It Is the contention of men engaged in hauling that the load limit should be passed on the tire width of the vehicles an 1 should vary according to the con dition of the roads in various lo calities. The order will completely stop the operation of the small saw mills throughout the county. It Is stated, and will also prevent the farmers from hauling In heavy loads of produce. It will probably result In an Increase in the cost of wood for fuel and will serve to throttle the small Industries and throw a number of persons out of employ ment.
