Skinner, at Winston, was the Bcene of a merry party Wednesday evening when a number of young folk from town gathered to honor Miss Elaine Simms who is visiting here from Colorado. The evening was spent In dancing, after which a delicious lunch was served by the hostess. The home was beautifully decorated tor the occs' sion, and everyone thoroughly en joyed the evening. The invitational guest list Included Misses Mildred Parks, Marion Porter, Mary Reams, Rosina Porter, Fern Reymers, Eve lyn Quine, Maxine Sykes, and the honor guest. Miss Elaine Simms; Ly- mon Skinner, Keith Wright. Ralph Buckingham, Cyril Nichols, Adalbert Abraham, Magnus Morud, Frank Cle mens, and George Bradburn. It Is the Intention of those In charge to make, this group gathering an annual affair and it is hoped that the work so successfully begun-thls year will grow to such an extent that these yearly meetings will prove to ho a creat Inspiration to all the Sun day schools of this vicinity. Bible School Group Gathering Success The Sunday school group gathering held near DUIard on Sunday, July 23, was a decided success. Between three and four hundred persons were in attendance, representing seven different Sunday schools: Looking Glass, Dillard, Ten Mile, Garden Val ley, Green, Glcngary, and Glide. A large delegation was also present from the Roseburg churches. The day's program began at 11 o clock with music by Hcrsher's or chestra, of Dillard. Merle Austin then Introduced Rev. Gordon C. Grif fin, missionary, representing the American Sunday School union In Lane and Douglas counties. Mr. Griffin explained the nature of the work being accomplished by the uni on and told of similar "group gnth eriugs" which are being held in the other sections with great success. A team from the Christian Work ers' band, under tho leadership of Claire Geddes, was present from Roseburg, and gave a very enter taining and helpful program consist ing of a vocal duet by Mrs. Love and Miss Love; scripture reading by Jas. McClintock; talk regarding the na ture of the Christian Workers' band by the leader. Claire Geddes; vocal solo by Miss Vivian Orcutt; talk by Miss Bertha Pentney on tho Divin ity of Christ; quartet by Miss Orcutt. Miss Pentney, Mr. Geddes, and Mr. McClintock.
