C, begs leave most respectfully to memorialize the In ternational Arms Congress now as sembled at Washington. 1). C, as follows: As Christians earnestly striving to follow the teachings of Christ Jesus our Lord and his Apostles, we hold: That war is a relic of barbarism, destructive of good morals and a re proach to Christian peoples; That the principles taught by the Lord Jesus Christ preclude consecrat ed Christians from engaging In war, bloodshed or violence in any form: That no nation can be said to be truly Christian which fails to adhere to those principles taught by the Lord and his Apostles; That the ruling or governing fac tors of the nations commonly called "Christendom" are now and for some time have been, to wit, "Financial Princes," otherwise termed control lers of commerce, statesmen, or po litical leaders, who formulate the laws, and clergymen and other ec clesiastical teachers, the last named both Catholic and Protestant, havlne contrary to the Word of God, Jolnetl hands with the two first-mentioned factors (which three component parts here mentioned we for convenience md Identification designate "The Ruling Powers") ; That the delegates and representa tives of The Ruling Powers now as sembled In International conference it Washington for the purpose of the 'Imitation of armaments, and Insofar as possible for the establishment of r-nndttions of peace and prosperity among the people, have before their laudable object. We shall be pardoned for saying that the prophecies clearly indicate that if the divinely prescribed reme dy be Ignored, this being the day of fiod's vengeance, as declared by Ills prophets of old, His wrath will be visited upup every government and system of Christendom; and both losus and the prophets declare that iuch shall be "a time of trouble such is the world has never known," at which time shall "Micheal (the Mes slahl stand up, the great prince that standeth for the children of thy peo ple." This standing up of Micheal will effect the deliverance of man kind from all forms of oppression md vt'1'1 make the beginning of right ousness on earth. Resolved that a copy of this memor ial be delivered to the Honorable Charles Evans Hughes, chairman of the International Arms Congress now in session at Washington, 1).
