"At the time I began taxing ian lac, I was In bad Ax. and had been ever since I had the 'flu' back In September, 1918. I had lost twenty eight pounds In weight, felt good- for nothing all tne time anil was so weak I could barldy do my -work. Fur months, I never knew what a good night's sleep meant, and 1 was ho nervous I would Jump out of my chair at the slightest noise. My stomach was so upset I couldn't eat a single meal In peace, for as soon as I had finished. I would bloat up with Has and feel so tight and stuff ed up. T thourht I would choke to death. Many a time I was In such pain and misery I walked the floor all night long, and finally I was tola that an operation was my only hope. My nerves are as strong as steel. 1 am sleeping 8 solid hours every night. I wish everybody could enjoy their meals like I do now, ror I can eat everything and any thing I want, and digest It without a particle or trouble. The pains and gas have all disappeared and I can breathe aa free and easily as ever before. Tanlac has made me all over again, and the remarkable thing about it is that it has done it in a shorter time than 1 ever thought was Dossible. ' Tanlac is sold In Ttosenurg by W. F. Automatic Electric Brake Company Incorporated Under tbe Laws of the Htalo of Oregon Douglas County People Invested $10,000 Last Week DO YOU WANT THE OPPORTUNITY OF SHARING IN THE PROS PERITY THAT WE CONFIDENTLY EXPECT? IF SO, WE URGENTLY . SUGGEST ACTION NOW. Did you over meet tho fellow that takes the time to tell you that ha could have, once upon a time, traded a TEAM OF MULES for the "forty" of which the court house Is now a part? If you have, you probably know one of the "luke-warm" citizens of the community a man lacking initiative and most of all the essential quulity necessary for a successful Investor FORESIGHT. We believe you have met a man who can be classified as a "penny thinker," one who gets no where, listens to no one, and learns nothing, while his neighbor, who la a good list ener and a "dollur thinker," gets rich. Every community generally has some of these who can not see bi-yond their nose and do not believe those who can. They remain stationary, so to speak, while the "dollar thinker" embraces the opportunities and forges ahead and you say: He Is a lucky guy. Those who have the FORESIGHT to see the opportunity it presents are the ones that reap the lllti PROFITS. Those who have not that foresight, hanjr around the corner stores In later years and tell how, at one time, they could have triuled a team of mules for the conrt house square. BY IDAH McGLONE GIBSON Ann Lauds a Job. I suddosu I must have been very dull or very young and unsophisti cated, because I did not understand what he said. I supposed "check girl" meant cashier work and I never had heard the phrase "you re on before, but I decided to be game and said: I shall be very glad to work for my dinner, but will have to have some money to pay for my lodging." "Oh, don't you worry about that. You'll get that In tips." "I don't think I quite understand," I said. "Don't get uppish right off the reel. You're In a bad predicament, my girl, and It's up to you to make good at something or you're liable to starve to death. Not that a beauty like you need be hungry long; you'll be a meal hound If you stay around here long enough. You won't be able to eat all the meals that they'll offer to blow you to." For a moment everything else was forgotten in my desire to ttrike this man. I fairly trembled at my help lessness, but my anger gave me cour age and I accepted his offer of work, thinking if it proved distasteful when I had paid for my dinner I could quit. It was impossible for me to speak, howover, so I raised my hands to remove my hat. "You are a game little sport, aren't you?" said the man and a note of admiration I had not heard be fore crept Into his voice. '"I believe I'm strong for you, even If you are lying." "Here, Sellers, take her back to her station." "Pardon me, I'll find It myself," I answered. The detective eyed me sullenly, but the manager seemed to realize that I was afraid of creating a sensa tion again, and said: "I'll show you the way myseslf.". I meekly followed, but stopped and must have looked my amazement when he said to the hat checker: "Here's a pal for you, Mamie. Now quit yelling for help." The girl turned quickly and I liked her at a glance. Her Irish face and broad smile gave me comfort imme diately, and I thought, "Here's some one who will believe my story." "This is Annie Whitcomb. Mamie." I gave a sigh of relief as I found the man had misunderstood my nnme. For awhile I stood watching her with admiration and wonder as she gave each man the right hat, appar ently glancing at-the checks. I had an added respect for even her occu pation. From her I began to get an Dr. R. P. Bradford and Wife. Graduates and post-graduates of the Oldest Charter ed College of Chiropractic n the world have re-opened office! la the Perkins Bldg.
