Miss Grace Brehaut, whose name was omitted from the list of those successfully passing the eighth grade examinations, will enter the high school with others of the class this fall: Workmen were today repairing the roof of the Douglas hotel. The wooden part of the building will he completely reshingled. Thi inter ior was renovated some time ago and Is now being used. The funeral of the late A. Mrs. Rickford Is enroute to Spokane, and from there will make an extended trip east to visit with relatives. F. M. Conn, who formerly resided at Melrose and who Is now employed in Portland, is visiting In this city with relatives and friends for a fw days. Mr. Conn has been attending to business matters in Grants Puns for a short time and stopped 1n here when enroute bark to Portland. Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Purdom, at one time sheriff of Douglas County, died at Pullman, Wash., Sunday, according to word received by his brother Alex Purdom of Riddle. The de ceased moved away from Roseburg many years ago and went to Wash ington where be has since resided He went to church last Sunday and on returning home died quite suit denly.
