Joseph S. Purdom, at one time
sheriff of Douglas County, died at
Pullman, Wash., Sunday, according
to word received by his brother
Alex Purdom of Riddle. The de
ceased moved away from Roseburg
many years ago and went to Wash
ington where be has since resided
He went to church last Sunday and
on returning home died quite suit
denly. Ills funeral was held today
at the Portland crematory.
