May 10, Editor News-Review: I see among the measures to be voted on at the coming city election Is one providing for several thous and dollar bonds to buy an aviation field. This Is a measure a couple level-headed members of the coun cil kept from going on the ballot at one time, then it was passed in spite of them at a later meeting. This in something the taxpayers are against, that is, the ones that are giving it any serious thought, therefore I wish to see the merits and demerits dis cussed In the columns of your pa per In hopes that the people as whole may get their eyes open to what the proposition means to them It would mean a constant expendi ture after the original cost and what benefit would it be any more than furnish Hie merchants of the city a little more trade caused by aerial tourists who would stop here occa sionally? It is already settled that there will be no government air planes located here and a bare pos sibility that there, will be any sta- ioned anywhere in Oregon, then why put the city In debt and saddle the people with a huge expense just o get a little more trade for a bunch of merchants that want the money?
