Book Store to Move To Parks Building i A deal was consummated today whereby the Roseburg Book Storo company has purchased the C. W. harks building, now occupied by Carr's variety store and will move to the new location about the first of June. The building Is situated In one of the most desirable locations of the business ditarlct and will be well suited for the business which Is to oocupv It. It has been known as one of the choice business build ings, for many years having accom modated the U. S. postoffice for a large number of years during the time the owner, O. W. Parks, served as postmaster for the city. The flock and fixtures of the book storo w'll be mover1 about the first of June, It was stated today. No loca tion for the novelty store has as yet been found. Maple Leaf Confec tionery Is Sold The general move of business bouses In the c!ty has extended to the Maple Leaf Confectionery store the deal for the purchase of which was conaumated today, airs. J. H. Rankin, the present owner, baa dis posed of the business to A. H. Ed wards ft Bro., of Corvallla, who will take posession about the rst ot May. Both young men are at the present time employed in the dis pensing department of Andrews and Kerrs. the well known Corvallls confectionery. They are experienc ed soda fountain experta, having maae tnat work an especial study for the paat three years, and expect to add many new features to the soda fountain of the Maple Leaf. The new proprietors are only 23 and 21 years of age. and are ex-service men. They have three younger brothers who will probably accmp- aujr mem o tnis city and assist In the new business. A large crowd was present at the step ping party, and good music was pro vided by Ott'a orchastra. The high school committee appointed to aid in this drive have done some excep tional work, slready clearing nearly $340, having had a tag day rale, and solicltlnK personal subscriptions among the high school students, in addition to their dance. They are undecided at the present time whether another entertainment Is to be given. The committee members who have devoted their efforts to this work are, Chairman Ids Rice.
