As a result ot their .trip, they will have many new offerings for their patrons. IL It. Official Hen V. It. Scott, vice-president of the i Southern Pacific Co., arrived here last evening from the north and spent a short time conferring with local officials, lie also visited with his sister-in-law, Mrs. M. J. Scott, of this city. Mr. Scott was travel ing by private car. Work -May Ke Kcsiutied Gus Lovegren, who acted as head cruiser in the Government classifi cation of the O. & C. lands in this county last summer, left for Port land this morning after a brief stop here following an official visit at Medford. Mr. I.ovegren. says he will probably be buck here with his men as soon as the weather permits work in the timber, provided the money is available for the continua tion or the classification. Engineers Work at Perdue M. H. Germond and Floyd Frear. who have been surveying for the eountv on the highway between Canyonvllle and Tiller, arrived here last evening to appear as witnesses today in the case of McCabc vs Kel ley in the Circuit Court. The en gineers surveyed the property in dis pule and will give testimony regard ing the boundaries. According to the surveyors, on their return tu work they will go to Perdue. They have finished the relocation near Canyonvllle and at Thomas creek, and will spend the rest of the time on the Perdue roads. Popular Man Here- Arthur Walker, a prominent resi dent of Heedsport, arrived in Rose burg Tuesday evening to spend i few days on business. Mr. Walker says business conditions are quite good in the Heedsport vicinity, not withstanding the destruction of the Gardiner mill. Higher prices were paid for fish this year than ever be fore, according to Mr. Walker, and the canneries were operated at full time. Many of the men who were formerly employed in the plant of the Gardiner Mill Company are now- located In Coos County. Mu.stet' Out Troops A telegram was received from Dr. George 10. Houck this morning tu the effect that the Oregon troops who returned recently from the Mexican border would bo mustered out. at Vancouver Harracks loitior row. Salem and Albany inviting the people of those cities to come to Kosehurg on the last day of the carnival. Spe cial invitations have been forwarder! to the Uosarians. of Portland: Cher rians. of Salem; Radiators, of Ku gene. and the Kotarians. of Albany. It is believed at least two of these organizations wil! be in attendance at the carnival on the final day. located On Ranch Ren .McMullen, of Myrtle Point, who was here on business, returned home this morning, says the Marsli tield Record. .Mr. McMullen said u was establishing a spraying plant nt the ranch he owns in partnership with lr. George K. Iix. on the South Coqiiillo River, and expects to do some effective work on the ranch orchard tiiis year. They have ar ranged to manufacture spray foi the neighborhood and farmers whn are unable to obtain their supply handily can be accommodated this year promptly. Mr. Hishell and son will remain here for two or three days before re turning home, in Curry County Mr. Hishell has served as sheriff and is eRuriled as one of that county s best citizens. According to Mr. Wollenberg, California is well under the effects of prosperity and within a short time it will undoubt edly be manifested throughout the West. Hnxkcttmll Team The members of the basketball team of the Kosehurg high school will leave here tomorrow for Meu- ford and Ashland, where they will )la a series of three games. Clark, who came here recently from Kugene, bus gone to Indianapolis, wbero her son, Harold Smith, is tinder arrest on a charge of larceny. Mrs. Clark expects to remain in the East for several weeks and will be present at her son's trial. The accounting was held before Judge Calkins, of Medford, in the year of 1915, and he decreed that Mr. Caro was Indebted to the defendant in the sum of $9,901. An Important decree was handed down by the Oregon Supreme Court at Salem late Tuesday, when the members of that body rendered a de cision modifying the verdict of the lower court und holding that Simon Caro, a local merchant, was indebted to Hynian Wollenberg in the sum of $7,224.17, instead ot in the amount or $1I,!MI1. In the decree just rendered by tho Supreme Court, it is set out that prior to the year lS!i:, Simon Caro and Isadore duo were indebted to Hynian Wollenberg In the sum of $ 1 ti.riOO, which Invelved Iwo mort gages held by the latter, with Intei esl at the rate of S per cent. In the year ISil'i. Simon and Isadore Caro deeded the properly involved which it was held that Mr. Caro's Indebtedness to Mr. Wollenberg on December 1, 1814 was $7,224.17. In the late decision of the Supreme Court the case was remanded back to the lower court to ascertain the amount of interest that had accrued between Dec. 1, 1U14, and the date on which tho property was surren dered to Mr. Caro by the detemlant. l nder tho terms of tho Siiprem Court ruling, Mr. Caro must pay the amount of the indebtedness to Mr. Wollenberg within a reasonable time, or the property will be sub ject to sale to satisfy the detit.
