been Riven here in honor of Mr. and
Mrs. Kred Heard, who are leaving for
Harrisburg, to engage in the bustn-ss
of general merchandising. Mr. Heard
haa erved as mayor of Yoncalla, and
ha been active in advancing tin wel
fare of the community. Both end
his wife have also been prominent in
lodge and social affairs.
Iast Thursday evenins the local
Masonic and Kasteru Star lodKH en
tertained in their honor and a fine
banquet was served. Wm. Kletzer
acted as toastmaster and felicitous
addresses were made by Mr. ami Mrs.
L. A. liass, S. X. Woodard. Me. V.
Daiifcherty, and Messrs. Clark. Har
den and Applegate. Appropriate re
sponses were made by Mr. and Mrs.
Heard.
On Friday evening the local Ite
bekahs gave a reception In honor of
Mr. and Mrs. Heard, at which there
was a large attendance. Kefresn
ments were served and a highly fra
ternal spirit prevailed.
On Saturday evening Mr. and Mrs
Heard were entertained tit dinner by
Postmaster and Mrs. Manley M.
Strawn. This was also a very happy
event.
There is general regret at the de
parture of Mr. and Mrs. Heard, who
have gained the highest esteem of the
entire community.

Oregon, received a bad gash in the
forehead thin afternoon when an
auto in which she was riding was
i upset just east of the (ieo. Hollen-
hatigh plate on the Pacific highway
between Kiddle and Canyon ville.
says the Kiddle Tribune. Resides
Mrs. Hradnack the car was occupied
by Mr. and Mrs Frank Thompson
and Miss Curtis, of Walla Walla.

wheel. In attempting to avoid a
rough spot In the road the car was
driven too close to the edge of a
bank and went over where it was a
few feet high and upset. None of
of the other occupants were Injured.
