With Stuller Hall crowded to
standing room, the members of Re
lief Itebekah lodge presented tneir
home talent drama last Saturday
evening, and the effort is pronounced
by all who attended to have been one
of tile most enjoyable entertainments
ever presented in the town.
The piece was a three act comedy
drama, entitled "Oak Farm," and so
ably did each member of the cast por
tray their roles that there was un
abatlng interest through the entire
performance. The excellence of the
production was a pleasant surprise
lo everyone who attended, and the
public is not chary in bestowing gen
erous praise upon all of those who
look part.
Briefly the story Is, Silas Weather-
by, owner of Oak Farm, mortgages
the farm to Jonathan Prune, the vil
lage postmaster, In order to provide
funds for his son Donald to attend
college. The postmaster proves to
be a scoundrel, intercepting letters
from the sou to his father and sweet
heart, in the effort to foreclose the
mortgage and lake the home from
the rainily. In this he is of course
thwarted, as the son becomes rich
through a lucky mining strike, and
returns home In the nick of time to
rescue bis family from their finan
cial plight.

Austin Wilson essayed the role of
the village physician, who vied with
I. A. Dean, the school master, ill the
effort to win the hand and affections
of Cynthia Warner, a spinster,
reputed to he wealthy, which part
was taken by Miss Ethel Hall. Both
were finally dissuaded from their
love making, when Silas Wentherby
told them that Cynthia was as pool
as a church mouse, but both were
discomfited upon learning that she
was reaily wealthy, and thai she was
to marry a prominent hanker. Mr.
Dean also doubled on the part of a
traveling salesman, who could fur
nlsh anything In the line or storms
from a light shower to a hurricane,
tornado or earthquake.
Mrs. Weatherby, Silas' wife, was
probably the most difficult of all the
roles in tho piece, and was charm
ingly rendered throughout by Miss
Florence Cutsfortb. Miss May Yo
kum had the role of Helen Trumbull,
niece of Silas, and was Donald's
sweetheart. Her rendition of Ihe
part or a sincere and cultured young
woman was ably sustained through
out several difficult scenes.
Miss Aim Wilson Is receiving a
full mead of praise for her rendition
of the part or Sallv Smart, an ignor
ant country girl, and no one can con
ceive ot bow the part could have been
done more effectively. Our readers
who did not see the performance may
fool that we are making an effort to
throw a big 'bunch or bouquets to
these voting people who presented
this performance, simply because
thev are home people. We wish to
assure them that anything we have
said above is written with all sin
rerilv, for it is a fact that thcrp are
scores or traveling companies which
fall to show the talent which these
local members ot Hie Itchckah lodge
displayed In this little drama.
