Since the present officers took control of the bank last June the business bas increased very ma terially, deposits last January being 132,000, and their official statement on January 7 of this year, as called for by the bank commissioners, shows 102,1100. Mrs. Minnie Weimer, wire of Los sen Wetmer, and niece of Mr. and Mrs. Dwlght Reed, of this city died of typhoid fever on Wednesday last at Ashland. On Wednesday evening the bridge spanning Pass Creek on A street and leading to East Drain, was struck by a heavy south wind and completely demol!8hed. It was a structure about 40 feet in length and covered by a heavy roofing, and has not been con sidered altogether sate for gome time. The Churchill-Mathews Comuanv. of Portland, has begun shipping trees to tneir lands at Tin Pol, and soon nn army of men will be needed to set them out. A carload of these trees has arrived here, In which there are IS. 000 trees, and tbey are being hauled to the ground In spite of the bad roads. A band of coyotes, suffering from the rabies, charged into ttie village of Durkee, near here, today. Several people and many doga were bitten. Fearing the dogs would go mad, the villagers armed themselves and waged war on the coyotes and dogs until a lute hour of the night, anni hilating the entire canine population of the village.
