To WHY SlIOl LH KAKltV FARM EH HLLOJ TO THE UlLN(iK? A Fa tor In Kociety.o Evt . nuiti is factor of society, end as- mich h is accountable for the manntr In which he performs the d.uie which dovolv upon him. His -Moral Ihitie. The flrn is to his home and family. The aocond to IiIb government which p 'milts him to enjoy the blessings and happlnesa of hit home and fam ily. The third Is to better tho condi tions and advance the interests of h!s cnoseii occupation. 1 SIihp we are looking at the farm ers side of the nuoHtion. what should bo his action nnd what can he do to better his condition? Kelpies as an Individual. There are certain conditions exist ing that must be met and overcome to obtain results desired by the farmer. What U'Kislation is needed must be secured by his combined ef forts. Ah mi Individual among 80 millions of people he Is InnnlteHinm! ly Kinall, and as an Individual he Is hopelessly helpless to do one th'lig to obtain relief. The moment the farmer attempts to relievo any burden created by un just taxation or unequal distribution of it, it makes no difference in what direction, he is met by an organizi d force No niKuinunt is needed at this time to convince any Intelligent farmer that such Is the ease. 11. is not enough that ho com plains and wantH something done, hut he is morally hound to do some thing himself and not merely wish It done. Ho Has Power. Ho has power and It Is his duly to use that power so as to make it available and his Influence felt. So Hint if he cannot make his Influence felt or hlH power available as an in dividual (and he cannot) his duty Is to make it so, and that can only he done through his organized efforts, ('rented n Social Heine;, Tho fanner was created a social being and needs the wholesome lu ll u en fe of organization to keep hlin so. His business is comparatively one of Isolation, varying iu degrees according to his environments. The farmer who lives within the bound aries of HiO acres becomes .very narrow and of liltln use lo the com munity. His family is correspond ingly dwarfed an they are shut out of society and are Improved as their opportunity lor association increases. The individual excluded from society will, in time, lose his mental powers and become oblivious to his own needs as well as to tho needs of others. Mere again he needs a farm organization where he and his family can meet with freedom and ease, and while cultivating sociability can se cure mental culturo and pleasing manners. The (i range the Itest. Without further arguhients all agree that the fanner needs to or ganize, and without hesitation we say the (Irange is his best organiza tion. Its Declaration of Purposes is as flue a document as wo have ever seen written by man. Its application to farm life and line sentiment coe lalned cannot be surpassed. With its existence of almost f0 years, in which time it has met the surveil lance of every opposition, it has not been found wanting in any particu lar. It has stood the test, while many other organizations which have sought to improve upon It have met with disaster and ruin. The plan of the Orange is right iu being made co-existent with the needs of the farmer, having nn organization in the township, co inty, state and Na tion, whereby it Is able to serve him In every sphere. Anything short of this is deficient. Any district iu Douglas county that wishes more information or wishes to start a (irange, some one that Is interested write to T. L, Lee, Deputy Master. Looking Hlass. Oregon, lie will visit you and organize a (J range for you. sw I'OKI MISSION I'ltOHHAM. There will be a public meeting of the Woman's Foreign Mission Society Tuesday evening.
