Senator Fulton sayn Roseburg can.
not get a public building appropria
tion at the tthort session of Congress.
Well, It's only a year until the next
long session and we will need the
building much more by that tl mo.
This section has worried along for
years, without a fruit cannery, but
the fruit that Is going to waste every
year Ib alone worth what it will cost
to build and etiuip such an insti
tution. No use to continue this large
waste. Let's have the ennnery, save
this loss and multiply the fruit pro
duction. Monday's Review gave you a com
plete report of the opening of con
gress. Today's Review gives you an
extended summary of President
Roosevelt's last annual message to
congress. You will want to keep poBt
ed on the actions of congress during
the winter, as well as those of the
Oregon legislature which will con
vene In January. The Review will
give you that news, as well as the
othor Important events of the world
right off the wires every dav. There
a place on our subscription lists for
your name, If it Isn't there already.

Tho year 1007 was an abnormal
one In the lumber industry. On the
I'ncinc const, particularly In Wash

early In the year preveuted the mniiii
rncturors from taking full advan
tage of the fnvonilile conditions. Then
came the pnnlc. and finally the at
tempt by the traiiB-contlneiitiil roads
to Increase freight rales, so that for
tho last two mouths of the yeur. and
until recently, the lumber mnnu

almost pnralyzed. A steady decline
In the lumber production from year
