Undertaken lu IiKcrrHt of inquiring Hubserib cn, Itoveuls MiirvcloUH Progress A Purrliaiw of United WirWcwri Telegraph Htork Undoubtedly Of fer UwnUv Future Profit Than Any Other Invent ment Now Before Ttio Public The Mercantile und Financial Tlmofl, of New York, tmyH: During the past thirty dayi this publication hat) received quite a num ber of Inquiries from Its readers, asking our opinion regardus an In vestment In "United Wireless." Not but 11 k Huinclontly conversant with the subject to Intelligently ad vine our correspondents, and following our In variable rule of Instituting a thor ough Investigation before condemn ing or recommending an enterprise, th Editor of the Mercantile and Fin ancial Times called at the genernl of fices of the United Wireless Tele graph Company, nt 42 Hroadway, New York City. The president of tho United Com pany, Colonel C. C. Wilson, met our Inquiry fairly,- and, by tho exercise of his authority, made It possible for Mr. Adams, our managing editor, to make a most thorough investigation and to obtain accurate Information. Tho bookB of the company were open to our oxpert accountant, tho com pany's contracts, its factories, its ata tluns with their file of puld commer cial messages everything, except the experimental department, whore new Improvements are conceived and worked out all was revoaled to sup ply facts from our judgment. It wap an unusual procedure, compared to the reception we somutlmes exper ience In our. Investigations, but we learned that the same privileges are extended to a committee of any body of Its shareholders, a fact which au gurs well for the futuro succumb of the company. Tills Is one of tho most Interesting stories this paper has published In 8 doc rule. We regret that lack of space prevents us frnin giving any thing more than tho bare facts of the present condition of tho company and to touch only lightly on Its enormous possibilities for its future. On June 14, 11)08, the New York Tribune, considered to he the most conservative financial authority among all of New York's dally pap ers, published an article on the "Mar velous Developments In the Realm of New Inventions," In speaking of the WlreleBH Telegraph and Its stock possibilities, tho writer had this to say: "When It is recalled that ono hun dred dollars invested in the Hell Telephone at Its Inclpleucy has paid $201,000 In dividends, the marvelous possibilities of the wireless loom up like the sun ou a clear June morning. With wireless bounding luto univer sal use, over land and sea, with com paratively little cost of maintenance and possibilities beyond tho most ex travagant dreams of man, United Wireless presents tho greatest op portunity for safe, sensible and log ical Investment, with better founded reasons for yielding Urge return than any other stock now before the public." In our Investigations of the United Company. Hs present and its future loBslhllltles. we havo no hesitation In stating that tho opinion expressed by the Tribune's writer is more than justified by facts, as Is shown by the following con denned statement; United Wln'lcMfi Telegraph Company. Tho United Wireless Telegraph Company was Incorporated February 14, 107, under the Iiiwh of Maine, with a cnpltat of $20,11110,000 1 0. 000.000 of which is seven per cent Preferred Participating stock and $10,000,000 of which Is Common stock. Its officers nd directors are all shareholders who have invested their money In the Wireless Tele graph. There Is no promotion stock. The assets of other companies were purchased and combined luto one sys tem and the company began com mercial operation during October. 1907.. Within the first year of actual commercial operation the United Company has succeeded In establish ing Its buslneMg on a net profit basis; has purchased and controls over one hundred valuable patents; has over one hundred boats equipped with the system; has thirty-seven bind sta tions established and In operation has three well equipped factories; ttf endorsed by many governments throughout the world through pur chase and ussge of Its Apparatus; Is established on :u steamship lines; has a corps of wireless experts who are recognized to be the best In the world; and. maintains an established position which could only be equal led by years of careful upbuilding and au expenditure of not lens Um& one and one-half million dollnrs; un der the most advantageous condition Th United Company Is the "grist fn mill" of years of mental and physical labor backed by the ex pertlture of flllions of dollars in actual r. Q Its Ctomnuuiiig PottlTion to Ik Main talnetl. The United Company now owns or controls the moat efficient und lat est Improved appurutus of uuy wire less system lu the world. Improve ments will continue to be made, and it is toaacnnble to expect that the company's own experts will be the foremost iu making such Improve ments; all of which belong to the company's assets. The United Com pany offers a ready market for any Improvement which might be made by others, und It Is the purpose of Us o Ulcers to purchase such Improve ments us it needs, whenever they are made, und funds are already provided for this purpose. History records that the company which become en trenched and successful when de veloping a new discovery has been able to mnlutaln Its position and make largo profits for Its sharehold ers. It seems logical that the United Company should progress rapidly, ex tend solidly and be able to maintain Its control of wireless development to have aeomplished so well under the most difficult conditions of the past twelve months augurs well for the future. AMsetH. The assets of the United Company consists of patents, good-will, con tracts, stations, boat equipments, factories, securities of other corpora tions, cash, hills receivable, and treas ury stock, nil of which totul over $20,000,000, and Is estimated now to he worth (bused on future earn ing capacity) over thirty million dol lars. Tho stock which shall be sold from Its treasury holdings, to extend tho company's operations is expected not to exceed 100,000 shares, or five per cent of Its entire cupltal; this amount Is believed to be sufllclent to supply all the additional capital ever needed by the company. This treas ury stock Is offered for sale for the reason that It seems best to dispose of such small portion of its stock and he able to extend moro rapidly lhan might bo possible from the use of the iperatlon profits alone, and also to nimble tho company to more quickly pay dividends on its stock. Dividends. Dividends will be paid as soon as tho shareholders of the company vote rhat It is to tho interest of the share holders for tho directors to declare a llvldend on Its outstanding stock. At he annual meeting In January, liMMl, tho inntter will be brought before 'he shareholders and decision made vhether a dividend may be paid out f the earnings from the com putty's Mislness during 190K. Future 1'rotltn. Future profits will depend entirely n the development of (he company's tuslncss. Tho wireless field offers greater opportunities for large pro its than any discovery made by mnn ip to the present time. With the able supplanted by wireless tele graph and such business extended to nclude the thousands of Islands not low connected by cable; with the ens of thousands of ships on the seas Hj nipped and kept In constant com nunleution with the wireless tele :raph; with the telegraph business in laud done with the wireless en Irely and the enormous expense of Maintaining poles and wires done way with; with the telephone sup planted by the Unlted's Wireless Telephone; with the railway trains un by wireless signal safety devices md "aerograms" sent direct to Tust iinvlng trains; with the police call, ire alarm, burglar alarm, light-house tonger slgnnl service, etc., etc., nnd nnumerable other services to be, lu hue, done by wireless, who can say hat the profits of the one success "n 1 company may be.
