Mr. and Mrs. Inman expect to go to Seattle in a few weeks to investigate the matter thoroughly. (Alex.) Ireland, a native Rose burg boy, who was raised by his uncle, Geo. W. Noah, of this city, will read with interest the following article clipped from a Colfax, a Walt., newspaper: T. A. Ireland, the crack rifle shot of Colfax, easily defeated the re doubtable Tom Hopper, of Spokane, in their big match held in that city on the Fourth of July. There was a large attendance and several thous and dollars changed hands on the re sult. 1 n the preliminary practice Hopper did some fine shooting, while Ireland scattered his bullets around the bull's eye. Hopper became so confident that he offered to bet an additional $100, which Ireland promptly covered and then offered to put up $500 more, but the Spokane man weakened. The match was 20 shots at 100 yards, with a muzzle rest, and as soon as the men began firing, Ire land's superiority became manifest. His first shot cut the bull's-eye and all his 20 shots were placed within the diameter of a 5-ceut piece. Hop per became nervous and did not shoot nearly as well as In practice. He was badly beaten, although as soon as Ireland was sure of winning he let up and did not try to make a record. The Colfax people who at tended the match brought back con siderably over $1000 of Spokane money. Constipation.
