J. weather ford, a local S. P. engineer, noticed a large colored worm on 'his highly 'prized tomato vines. Mr. Weather ford showed the worms to several of the "old timers" around Rose burg, all of whom pronounced them tobacco worms. The worm is from two to four Inches in length and about half aa inch in diameter. They have two short horns on their head. A very peculiar thing about these worms Is that when touched they utter a very snappy sound- and show considerable fight among themselves. The worm were transferred from the vines to a Jar and were put on dis play. When deprived of their, fu.od niey began feeding on one" an other. About 20 worms were found. It mayje a good plan for those having tomato vines to examine them. TIRE ECONOMY In these war time days ECONOMY Is the watchword.
