Garden Valloy, whose quota was (2400, piioned in this morning that $3600 had been subscribed, which is a splendid1 showing and in keeping with the many other patriotic things being done In that live community. The amount asked from district No. 5ii, Myrtle Creek was $1075, and those progressive people answered It with pledges for $112fi. lleedanort subscribed S'4 50 against a quota of $1750, assigned to her, showing that these people aro loyal In national as well as In iocal affairs. Lcona, district No. 70, answered Ihc roquost for $4436 from her by pledging $0435, which shows that live little town to be on the map in war activities as well as along other linos. The Ilttlo district No. S7, near Roseburg, whose quota was $7 40. pledged to this great cause STi'.O, which Is much to the credit of thin patriotic little community. District No. 36, Scottsburg still holds the banner for percentage of subscription for she camo buck at the request for $1330 with pledges amounting to $3200, and stutod that she waB still going. Miss Pearl Crabtree, who has been In the city .the past two days visiting with her sisters, Mrs. Shellah Car roll and Miss Ellen Crabtree, will leave this evening for her home at Los Angeles. A. C. Marsters, C. L. Had ley and L. J. Barnes returned last evening from an auto trip to Portland where they spent a few days looking after business matters. The party reports a delightful trip. According to returns received this morning Jomes L. Thornbtirg, of Umpqua, and Miss Lillian M. Faurot, of Wilbur, were united In marriage at the Wilbur M. E. parsonage on Juno 22, Rev. R. J. Davenport offi ciating. The happy young couple are well and favorably known where they reside mid have the best wishes of a host of friends. Mrs. Hyman Wollcnberg has donat ed the use of the two story frame building at 112 West Douglas street for Red Cross work during the dura tion of the war. This house will make excellent headquarters for the Red Cross, and workmen are already busy renovating the place and getting it In readiness for occupancy. NEW TOIMV.
