Meat forms uric acid which overworks the kidneys in 'their effort to filter it from the1 blood and they become sort of paralyzed and loggy. When your kidneys get sluggish and olog you must relieve them, like you relieve J-our bowels ; removing all the body's urinous waste, else you have backache, sick headache, dizzy spells; your stomach sours, tongue is coated, and when the weather is bad you have rheumatic twinges. The urines cloudy, full of sediment, channels of ten get sore, water scalds and you are. obliged to seek relief two or three times during the night. Either consult a good, reliable physi cian at once or get from your pharma cist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few dnys and your kidneys will then act fine. This famous snlts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, com bined with llthia, and has been used for generations to clean and stimulate sluggish kidneys, also to neutralize acids in the urine so It no longer irri tates, thus ending bladder weakness. Jad Salts is a life saver for regular meat eaters. It is inexpensive, cannot injure and mnkes a delightful, effer vescent lithia-waler drink. ALSACE AND LORRAINE , (By Associated Press.) FRENCH FRONT, June 21. In nearly every newspaper printed in Get many at the present moment there is presented- sumo kind of a scheme tor the solution ot the ques tion of Alsace-Lorraine. What tin Germans cannot understand is the facl virtually every real Alsatian and Lorrain rejects in totality un scheme lor joining his native lane: either to the German Empire or au ot its component letleral stales. The latest method of disposing oi the two provinces discussed in the tierman imperial parliument pro poses their division between Prussia and Bavaria, Lmrnine to he takei by the former and Alsace by the lul ter. This proposition not only i: rejected by the inhabitants of tin provinces themselves, but has arous ed protests Irom several ol t ho Ger man states, and especially from Wuertteiuberg. Consequently lor the tiiuo being it has been allowed to drop in favor of two other schemes, both unsatisfactory to some of the German parties. The lirst of them looks to tile for mation of an Independent slate ot Alsace-Lorraine under the rule of a duke, while the bocoiiiI formulates the foundation of a republic of Alsace-Lorraine attached lo the Ger man Empire. lloth of them have been widely discussed but without bringing about any conclusion, and, should either ol them be accepted by the Hermans, it is believed the people of the two provinces would have nothing to do with It. As the correspondent of fho As sociated Press has found in discuss ing the matter with Alsatians and Lorralns of nil classes, the only de sire ol the! people is to be reunited to France, with which they have re mained, in spite of the Merman an nexation, closely allied In all their ideas and in all their souls. They recall frequently in the course of their conversations the words utter ed by President Wilson; "The wrong caused by Prussia to France in IS71 must be redressed In order that peace may be establish ed in tho Interest of all." illoost w. The lli-st throe years of war re duced by over two million the num ber of babies who would have been born in Germany had pence prevail ed, says a report of the British local government board. Some '10 per cent fewer German babies were born in 11)16 than In 1!)13. The infant death rate, which rose to nn abnormal height for a time alter the outbreak of the war. nppeurs to have gradual ly returned to the pre-war rate. The food difficulties have not led to an excessive milliner of babies dying, at least up till the end of 19111. In the towns where tho food shortage was most acute the death rate tended to fall.
