Patient in Critical Condition. Willie Carsten, the little son of Mr. and Mrs. Win. Carsten, of North Roseburg, who was so severely burn ed early last fall, and who has been confined to his bed for the past six months, 1b reported in a very critical condition today, Miss Lena Guest Improved. Miss Lena Guest was operated on at Mercy ihospltal yesterday morn ing and her condition is Bald to be very favorable today, although she passed a rather bad night. Miss Guest has been in poor health for some time and It was thought that the operation would prove beneficial. Annual Meeting to lie Held. ' The anual meeting of the Presby terian church will be held Wednesday evening. All the members and friends of the church and congrega tion are asked to assemble at 6:30 for the church supper, A fellowship hour will follow. Devotional ser vices an bdusiness will be held at 8 o'clock. i , S. C. Clark Burled nt Creswell. H. D. Harris was at Creswell yes terday to attend the funeral of the late S. C. Clark, who passed away in the hospital at San Francisco, the fifth of the present month, after an illness of nine months. The deceas ed was well known In this community having worked but of here as a brakeman for several years. The de ceased is survived by his mother and father, who reside at Creswell. Mrs. W. J. Tester, of North Rose burg, has just received a message from her son, Clarence, who is with the 65th, and recently passed through Roseburg enroute east. The young man, in company1 with his regiment, salledi from Hoboken, N. J., or some tributary port on or about March 24, and the mesasge states that the voyage over seas was successful and foreign port had been sately made. Whether In England or France is not known, but that the young man is bound for the fighting zone is sure. and with others from Oregon he will take part in the great conflict raging there.
