A large force of Western Union Telegraph Company employes arriv ed in the city today and began work on a new lino which will bo complet eo between Rosehurg and ICugene nnd on to Marsh field during the win ter. A large treating plant was fix ed and will be maintained here as long as it is practical to haul the necessary poles from this city. The line will bo entirely new and will connect Roseburg with the coast in a much more efficient and satisfactory manner than heretofore. She Is shown above in the middle pic ture wearing a silver cloth ami tulle gown, which is especially becoming to her cameo type of beauty. The bodice of the gown has the Em pire point of silver-colored taffeta, short sleeves of the tulle with tiny ruf fles of taffeta and a- French flower knot fastened at the left side of the short bodice. The skirt is made with hoops, the underdress being of silver cloth, over which the tulle is flared in full lines, having seven ruffles of the taffeta stand ing out in crisp elegance as affected by milady of the nnte-bellum period. The skirt is short, and silver slippers are worn with the gown. Dorothy laIton is shown above at right. She wears a hat of Tete de Xegre basket weave velvet and gold cloth.
