White Water Rafting at Chemawa A RAFTING TRIP Mv first rafting trip was on the McKenzie River on May 7th. We left Chemawa at 9 a.m. and got over there at 11:30. We all helped out and aired up the rafts. We finally got on the river at about 11:50. Then we had water fights. There were five rafts: a four-man team, two six-man rafts, and two two-man paddle crafts. The trip was 15 miles long and took about 4‘/2 hours. The rapids are fun to and the water fights are fun too. We got off the river about 4:15 p.m. We were cold until we got our dry clothing on. After we got back to Salem, we ate pizza at Pietro's. -J.W . at first it was sort of scary and then it started getting fun. The first big rapid we hit was called Brown's Hole. It wasn't too bad, but the second one. Martin's Hole, the largest rapid in Oregon, was rough. We had water fights and the water was cold. Only one fell out of a raft; that was Sammy Butterfly.
