The Agriculture Club sponsored a
Halloween Dance on October 30.

The Commerce Club this year is
very small but very much on the move.
Mrs. Kolb, typing, shorthand, and
general business teacher, is advisor
for the club.
The officers are Loretta Sammuels,
President; Paul Katangan, Vice Pres­
ident; Sandra Thomas, Secretary;
Anthony Paniyak, Treasurer.
The Club meets on the 2nd and 4th
Wednesday of each month. The mem­
bers are now getting Christmas paper
and cards ready to sell. The cards
were drawn by a former student,
Oliver Kirk.
The money that is raised by the
Commerce Club will go to buy a gift
for the Outstanding Senior In Bus­
iness Education at graduation.
Mrs. Kolb encourages more people
to be involved with the Commerce
Club. She say s,“ There is plenty of
room for more members.”

were done by Phillip Taylor, Calvin
Nomee and Adrian Taylor. The Great
Pumpkin came out of the patch and
paid a visit to the dance. The pump­
kin was greatly admired.
The supervisors of the ag club are
Mr. Morrow and Mr. Bunsen. The of­
ficers are, Lincoln Enoch, president;
Luke Edwards, vice president; Olga
Nick, secretary; John Henry, treasurer
and Phillip Taylor, representative.
The ag club consists of about 30
members right now. They have plans
for a calf project so that students can
raise calves and sell them at the end
of the year. They also plan to raise
game birds.
Six volunteer students will work
with the calf project, two of them
raising each of the three calves which
have now arrived and are located in
the barn beside the Art Center. When
spring comes the student volunteers
will sell their calves and will be al­
lowed to keep the profits for their own
use. The project is designed to show
students the value' of raising animals
as well as the experience of caring
for them.

The N.I.C.E. is growing rapidly.
Fifty students were present at its
last meeting—41 regular members.
The group meets regularly on Tuesday
at 6:30 in the McBride rumpus room.
All students are invited to attend;
At the last meeting we adopted a con­
stitution, bylaws and code of ethics
which we drew up ourselves.
Lindsey Howtopat and Robert
Tomaskin represented Chemawa and
N.I.C.E. at a conference in Mt. Edge-
cumbe, Alaska. We were proud to
have them representing us.
Because of the reorganization this
year, it was decided to have one
advisor and several assistant advis­
ors to help our different committees.
Mrs. Grape was elected as advisor.
Mr. Kihega, Mr. Logan and Mr. Seaton
of Brewer Hall have offered to help,
as have Mr. Wassillie of Mitchell,
Mrs. Shepard of McBride and Mrs.
Goulden and Miss Phair of Winona.
Mr. David will help the art club.
We hope that by dividing our club
into committees we can offer more
activities for student enjoyment. We
nave formed committees so far for war
dancing,
singing and drumming,
leathercrafts and carving. Students
interested in joining one or more com­
mittees may sign up with the officers,
committee chairmen or with Mrs.
Grape. Interested staff members also
contact the officers or Mrs. Grape.

“ All Choral students of Chemawa
are now practicing Christmas songs
for the Christmas Holidays.”
Mr.
Garlinghouse reported.
These stu­
dents will be going around the dorms
on campus to sing carols during the
Christmas season.
The choirs are also practicing
popular songs and music for their
first concert.
Next semester there will be two
classes in begining guitar.

semester there will also be classes
in Jazz, Rock, and Pop and Indian
music.
Anyone interested in singing, play­
ing guitar or playing in the band is
welcome. Mr. Surmon said, “ We have
instruments for those who would like
to be in band. Come and see u s.”
