Various subjects are covered at each meeting. On October 9-10, Post 123, along with Post 18 of Marion County Search and Rescue, took to the field for their first training exercise. To qualify for the Search and Res cue team, a student must be in Ex plorer Post 123 and qualify through the Marion County Sheriff’s office. One weekend out of every month, Post 123 will be out in the field to practice what they learned during the Wednesday night meetings. Mr. Smith, the advisor, says, “ I think that search and rescue is one of the most important things that a stu dent or young boy could learn, becaus e we teach first aid, map and compass reading, wilderness and navigation. This could help you.” Mr. Smith is looking forward to hav ing 20 men this year. If any boy is interested, he should come to the next Search and Rescue meeting, held each Wednesday night. Mr. Garlinghouse is also looking for a rock band to go with the choir. He also needs a guitar and some rock instruments that can be played by a student who wants to learn or who knows how to play already. Mr. Garlinghouse also said that A- Choir and Choral Ensemble need boys who like to sing and will welcome as many boys to his choir as will try out.
