£ THE CHEMAWA AM ERICAN BRA VES TOUGH IN A -2 HOOP PLA V Up In The Air DINNER MEETING AT McNARY A dinner meeting was held a t McNary Golf Course January 7, 1969 a t 6:00 p.m. S tudent Council: members and Advisory C om m ittee a t t e n d e d t h i s dinner meeting. After a big meal, we had obr Student Council meeting and l e f t McNary at approximately 10:00 p.m. , We enjoyed our big meal th at we had but we were too f u ll to move. Although t h i s i s my f i r s t year here a t Chemawa, I have le a r n e d t h a t e d u c a tio n i s r ig h t a t my f in g e r ti p s and a l l I have to do is put fo rth the e f f o r t to reach out and grasp i t . Ruth Sheldon Going in to the second h a lf of th e 1968-69 b a s k e tb a ll season, th e Chemawa Braves a,re s p o rtin g an 8-6 season r e c o rd , w ith 2 wins and 4 lo s s e s in A-2 League play. A ccording to Coach Kugie L o u is, th e team i s r e a lly p u llin g together and the team s p i r i t i s running very high. T his was dem onstrated in a recent victory over Jefferson w ith an 88-61 win. Hubert -Hopson led th e Braves with 24 p o in ts, with every member of th e team r e g i s te r in g in the score column. Thus f a r , in League play, Ch emawa’ s o p p o n e n ts have s c o re d 210 p o in ts and the Braves have t a l l i e d a to ta l of 190 p o in ts. Twelve h o o p s te rs comprise Chemawa* s V a rsity Team th is y e a r. R ic h a rd Koso, Tony Melovidov, Calvin Fred, Lyle Walker and A lexie Moses are th e S e n io r members of the squad. The J u n io rs inclu d e Leland B arger, Sam L e a v itt, Hubert Hopson and Roy Nageak. L ast, but not le a s t, are the up and coming Sophomores, William A lbert, Byron George and Percy Frisby. BOTANY CLASS NEWS In' botany c la ss we have some r a ts . We use thèse r a ts for g e n e tic e x p e rim e n ts. L ast month December 6, 1968, we crossed a brown hooded male w ith a black hooded female. At the same time the g erb ils were c r o s s e d . J a n u a ry 5, 1969, black hooded had eleven, b a b ie s . She had s ix b lack hooded, th re e browns and two alb in o s.
