The largest graduating class in the history of the school gazed out upon wet sidewalks and a drizzly sky as they donned their caps and gowns for the long awaited day. A few minutes after the Ghemawa Band sturck up the strains Of the processional, the sun came out and added its beauty to the occasion. The 205 seniors marched out upon the lawn in the center of the campus complex, and were seated in the seats directly in front of the speakers platform. Relatives, guests, and students were seated in the portable bleach ers, which were arranged in a horseshoe formation around the se niors. After the national anthem Eva- lyn McLaughlin, one of the gradu ates, gave the Invocation. Hiratsuka, Clark’s Point, Alaska, gaVe the valedictorian address, speaking on the subject, “The Builder.” Main speaker was Merlin L. Morey, Superintendent Marion County Education District, who gave a challenging address on “Why we need a good education.” Mr. Ray Sorensen, principal, made tne presentation of Special awards. Besides the valedictorian and salutatorian awards, Sally Aiin Matfay received the award for Outstanding Senior in Business Ed ucation.- Diplomas were presented by Mr. Hallie O. Walters, superintendent.
