4-JAN 28(i -19541 1 CHEMAWA^ f AMERICAN Volume 54 Senior Girls Take Red Cross Course The twelfth grade girls are tak ing Red Cross Home Nursing. The classes, taught by Mrs Leona Nopp, nurse at the hospital, are held Tuesday and Thursday morn ings from 8:45 to 11:15. The girls are learning how to take tempera tures, clean the thermometer, take care of bed patients, make articles such as back rests and foot rests, etc. Upon completion of the six les son course, the girls will receive Red Cross certificates. See Your Dentist Dr. Gene Poon, school dentist, and his assistant, Miss Georgiana Smith, have suggested that it would be a good thing if older students would make their own appoint ments to see the dentist. Those who have money in the office should see Mrs. Seawright about having their dental work done in Salem. Make good use of your money while you have it. Have your teeth checked twice a year. When you have made an appoint ment, be sure to be there at the time you are expected, for the doc tor wastes time waiting for you. Get an appointment when you know you can be there. Cancel the appointment if you find you cannot keep it. In the future you will be glad you kept your appointments. Many Wear Red Feather Chemawa employees contributed $268.50 to the Salem Community Chest this year, exceeding last year’s giving by $100.00. Mr. Har old Hayne, chairman of the campus drive, reports that 95% of Che mawa Indian School employees gave to the fund.
