Elementary Students Broadcast Students from the fourth, fifth, a n d sixth g ra d e s took p a rt in a radio b ro a d c a st over station KOCO, S atur day, O ctober 21. They w ere g uests on the Aunt Sophie program w here th ey w ere interview ed a n d h a d the privilege of h e a rin g a good fairy story. Thé children also p resen ted the following m usical num bers: Down in the V alley, Shortnin' Bread, a n d Song of Praise. Bonnie Morton a n d W illiam M eninick sa n g B arnacle Bill, The Sailor. M arcus Luke, Bobby C am pbell, a n d Roy H ayes sa n g In d ia n songs a n d drum m ed. Mrs. Jo- h a n n a b e r, who acco m panied the children on the trip, reports that they enjo y ed the experience very much. Aunt Sophie show ed them the fea tu res of a radio station, a n d they w itn essed a b ro a d c a st given b y a 4H club group. FRESHMEN STUDY DIETS The Freshm en a re w orking on a unit on diet. Three chairm en hav e b e e n ap p o in ted in e a c h division, A a n d B, to h an d le the sev eral p h a se s of the unit. These chairm en h av e chosen students to work on commit tees a n d after the re se a rc h h a s b e e n com pleted the com m ittees will report their findings a n d b e p re p a re d to a n sw e r questions that m ight b e put to them. The unit includes such topics a s vitam ins, w eight control, protein a n d other topics. The class is m aking use of m a te ria l from the state, school, a n d dorm laboratories. The g a y little freshm en a re le a rn ing to dance. They a re le a rn in g to rye waltz, waltz, glow worm mixer, a n d schottische. The 7th a n d 8th g ra d e pupils h av e joined them in som e of their lessons. In order to not b e found w anting, the freshm en practiced the correct w ays to m ake introductions a t the b eg in n in g of the school year. They find it com es in a s a very h a n d y thing to know. The com paratively la rg e Junior class of 20 girls a n d 17 boys held a class m eeting in w hich they elected the following officers to serve for the school year: W illiam Shillal, p re si dent; Justin Pinkham , vice-president; Sam pson, treasurer; Clifford Matt, sergeant-at-arm s; Jam es Sam pson a n d W an ita Placid, reporters.
