The Chemawa American What Qualities Are Admired The members of the Junior class have been interested in a question asked by the reporters in the Red Lake “Tomahawk," so they sent the question to members of the Che mawa staff to get their answers. The question was, “What qualities do you appreciate most in a student?" The following are the answers re ceived: Mr. Kelley, superintendent: Devol- oping and maintaining school spirit and loyalty to the school. Develop ing respect for persons and property. Civic pride. Willingness to learn. Good citizenship. Mrs. Brannon, principal: Courtesy. Dependability. Initiative. Honesty. Miss Goings, home economics teacher: Tenacity, “stick-to-it-ive ness. " Honesty. Trustworthiness. Thoughtfulness of the other fellow. Miss Challis, girls' advisor: De pendability. Reliability. Loyalty. Cooperativeness. Courtesy. Mrs. Detrick, 10th grade teacher: Cooperativeness, which implies will ingness to do one's work. Obedience to rules and regulations. Willingness to listen to others' viewpoints. Cour tesy and consideration for others. Miss Dorweiller, music teacher: Courtesy, at all times to all people. Eagerness to learn. Cheerfulness. Pride in appearance, including both sitting and standing posture. BEAUTIFUL CAMPUS The Chemawa campus shows im provement since the trash cans have been distributed around in the most important spote. Every one is trying their best to keep their campus clean so when visitors come and look around they can truthfully say that we have a very clean campus. Everyone keep up the good work and help out the civic commission ers and yard man, so that they can try in other ways to beautify the campus, instead of picking up pa pers all the time. Try to be prompt at all my classes and details. Never miss church on Sunday. Florence Ingawanup: I will try to do everything to the best of my ability. Work for a more pleasing personality. Have greater consideration for others. Lillian Mennick: I resolve to be more polite. I will attend church every Sunday. Jeannie Halfmoon: I resolve to be a better human being. GIRL SCOUTS MEET WITH SALEM TROOP The girl Scouts met with Salem Troop 5 at the First Christian church on Thursday, January 15. Troop No. 5 presented the Chemawa Girl Scouts with several potted Narcissus bulbs just before Christmas. Almost all the Girl Scouts have paid their dues and learned the scout laws. The Girl Scouts raised $17.50 for the troop fund by selling Christmas cards. They wish to thank all the employees who purchased the cards. Grade 4, Shattuck School, Portland.
